Earlier this year at MWC 2019, LG Electronics launched two new premium budget smartphones – the LG G8 ThinQ and the LG V50 ThinQ. Now, nearly six months later the tech giant has launched its G8 successor – the LG G8X ThinQ at IFA 2019. However, unlike the LG G8 ThinQ, LG’s latest G series smartphone feature two screen which makes it closer to the LG V50 ThinQ that comes with a second screen than the G8 ThinQ.
The LG G8X ThinQ comes with a 6.4-inch full HD+ OLED FullVision display with a screen resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixel. It is attatched to a second display of similar configuration with USB Type-C port. The LG V50 ThinQ on the other hand used POGO pins to connect one screen with the other. In the front, LG’s newly launched LG G8X ThinQ has a third 2.1-inch mono display that can be used for various functions such as checking time, date, battery charge, notifications and other useful information without opening the Dual Screen.
As I mentioned before, LGG8X’s dual screens are connected via hinges. LG says that while the first Dual Screen offers two different viewing angles, the second adopts a new 360 Freestop Hinge to allow for viewing at any angle.
As far as other details are concerned, the LG G8X ThinQ is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and it comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory that can be expanded further using a microSD card of up to 2TB. Sadly, despite the launch of Android 10, the newly launched smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie. However, it comes with a 4,000mAh gigantic battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology which makes it a lucrative option to buy.
In terms of camera, the LG G8X ThinQ, comes with a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 12MP standard lens and 13MP super wide angle lens. On the front, the phone has a 32MP standard lens. What’s interesting about the phone’s camera system is that for the first time LG is introducing a functionality to switch between front and rear camera while recording a video.
In addition to this, the LG G8X ThinQ comes with LG’s advanced audio technology. This includes 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC which is tuned by Meridian Audio and DTS:X 3D Surround Sound. It features IP68 water and dust resistance technology and it is compliant with MIL-STD 810G military grade standard. While LG has not revealed the price and availability yet, what we know is that the LG G8X ThinQ will be available in market in Aurora Black colour.
