Samsung: Take Your Mobile Gaming to the Next Level

New Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ to help gamers achieve a truly immersive experience.

The popularity of mobile gaming has grown substantially in recent years thanks to smartphones. Currently, games played on mobiles and smartphones account for a third of all global games, and that is estimated to increase to half in the future.

The MENA region enjoys a massive population of online gamers – 587 million in 2017 according to Newzoo and unlocking this kind of potential would have an enormous impact on the mobile industry*.

The upsurge in mobile gaming has led to a growing demand for devices that meet specific requirements, i.e. optimized video and sound quality. The new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ features enhancements that allow the devices to take mobile gaming to the next level.

Screen resolution is one of the most important graphics settings when it comes to visual quality of games, high resolution gives sharper and detailed images. Both the 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 and the 6.2-inch S9+ have Samsung’s latest Super AMOLED Infinity Displays, which feature key improvements that magnify the great qualities of Galaxy smartphones’ signature screen.

Further, audio quality is key in terms of making the whole gaming experience immersive and realistic. Samsung S9 and S9+have powerful, AKG-tuned stereo speakers to pump out audio that’s not only loud, but also rich and balanced, regardless of volume.

A report by PwC estimates that the global videogames market will be worth $93bn by 2019 and the MENA is one of the fastest growing gaming regions in the world. The sector presents a lucrative prospect for development and companies are now pumping money into creating an ecosystem for mobile gaming.

Putting gamers in full control, Samsung has introduced a Game Launcher app which is essentially a one-stop hub for all things mobile gaming, featuring tools designed to help users get the most out of their gaming experience.

There is a growing trend towards more immersive digital entertainment, from movies to games with Virtual Reality spelling out the future of online gaming. This means the gadget makers need to catch up and innovate to cater to the increasing demand.

Game Launcher’s customizable tools allow users to specify exactly how they’d like their phones to behave when they’re gaming, which makes it easier for users to engross themselves in the on-screen action.

Most new games are now accompanied with online components offering players a more captivating and well-rounded experience. Whether the player is competing in extreme sports, car races or battling it out in a different time period, the amount of choice available is incredible.

Through Samsung’s Game Launcher app, gamers are able to turn off notifications, lock navigation buttons, and mute games’ sound. The app also enables users to easily record videos and capture in-game screenshots, and features modes to boost performance and save power. Downloaded games are automatically placed in an icon format in the Game Launcher app, which also makes it easy to discover exciting new games and build a collection.

The Newzoo report names Egypt, UAE, and Saudi Arabia as top three countries leading gaming growth. That comes as little surprise considering the fact that both UAE and Saudi Arabia are among the countries with the highest smartphone penetrations in the world, standing at 80.6 and 65.2 percent, respectively. So there is a lot more room for growth as opportunities existing within the MENA mobile gaming market are unlimited.

Moto G7 Power is certified, to have 5,000 mAh battery

Last month we heard Lenovo is dropping plenty of its Moto series, but the G line will stay with a fourth powerful addition to the family. Today the Moto G7 Power got certified in Thailand with the model number XT1955-4, while the FCC listing revealed the device will have a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh.

The model on FCC revealed also the dimensions of the handset. The diagonal of the phone will be 167 mm, or around 6.45”, but the actual screen will likely be around 6.2”. Moto G7 Power will come with one main camera with an LED flash.

The new device will have at least four variants for different markets – XT1955-1 for Brazil with Dual SIM, XT1955-2 for Latin America with hybrid SIM slot, XT1955-4 is also with a hybrid slot, but no NFC, while the global one with the near-field communication is called XT-1955-7.

Mystery phone features triple camera and dual screen, may be vivo NEX S2

The vivo NEX S was one of the most striking phones to launch this year, but its sequel may already be close. An unboxing video of a “mystery smartphone” shows a few unique design elements and the rumor mill believes that this is the NEX S2.

The first is called the “Lunar Ring”, which appears to be a colorful RGB LED ring around the camera. While it’s much more advanced than your typical LED notification light, it still pales in comparison with the second feature.

A second screen. That’s right, the NEX S2 will have dual displays, similar to the nubia X. Unfortunately, the rear display isn’t demoed in the video so we can’t judge how large it is. Luckily, you can see it clearly in this leak and it’s pretty big.

For the third feature, we go back to the Lunar Ring. It actually surrounds a triple camera, which you can use to take selfies (using the rear display as a viewfinder). Presented as a hypothetical in this video, the triple camera setup may feature a 3D Time of Flight sensor. (yeah, it’s probably more than hypothetical)

There’s no mention of a camera pop-up and we don’t think there is one – the rear screen makes it unnecessary. This is obviously just the start of a teaser campaign, so stand by for more official info as well as the usual leaks.

The Supernova Red is similar to the Black color option – The top part is extremely dark and will likely be deep red, but looking down, the color gets brighter to the point where some texture is visible on the bottom side. The rim will also be in sexy red color, with all other physical features like the dual camera and the bezels will remain the same.

The vivo V11 Pro comes with Snapdragon 660 chipset and 12 MP + 5 MP primary camera setup. It has an under-display fingerprint scanner and huge 6.41” screen with a waterdrop notch and tall ratio of 19.5:9.

The Supernova Red color is expected to cost the same as the other two – INR25,990 ($370/€325), although some offline retailers have lowered the price down to INR24,000.

Qualcomm CEO says company is close to a resolving legal issues with Apple

In an interview with Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf on CNBC’s Mad Money, Jim Cramer, host of the show asked Mollenkopf for an update on the company’s ongoing legal feud with Apple.

“Can you give us a little update,” asks Cramer, “because I wanna buy an Apple 5G phone and I wannit to have Qualcomm in it.” This, of course, referring to the ongoing legal battle the two companies face: Qualcomm demanding royalties and claiming patent infringements while Apple claims that the royalties are excessive.

Qualcomm CEO: We’re ‘on the doorstep’ of a resolution with Apple from CNBC

In response, Mollenkopf says he would also like to see Qualcomm 5G in Apple phones. “The second half of this year and into next year is when we’re really on the doorstep of finding a resolution,” he explains, vaguely. This doesn’t tell us much about whether (and when) Apple will release a 5G phone and if it would have a Qualcomm modem in it or not.

Then again, Apple was late to adopt LTE when it first launched. Verizon first rolled out its LTE network back in 2010 but LTE would finally arrive to an iPhone in late-2012 on the iPhone 5. If we go off of this piece of history, we don’t see Apple adopting 5G until 2020 – the company tends to wait for these technologies to stabilize and become cheaper before incorporating them into its products.

Perhaps with its declining iPhone sales, Apple can’t afford not to be part of the 5G race. 5G will be a huge selling point next year and Apple not being a part of it could further jeopardize future sales.

Apple Watch Series 4 will finally gain ECG support with watchOS 5.1.2 update

Undoubtedly the most exciting feature of the new Apple Watch Series 4 is the ECG functionality. However, it isn’t available yet and we are still waiting for Apple to enable it via a future update. And according to inside sources, watchOS 5.1.2 is going to be the one to bring it.

The software version is currently in beta testing and isn’t yet available for the public. But once it arrives, it will be able to read your heart rhythm. It can help detect atrial fibrillation or just an irregular heart rhythm.

Apple promised to enable the feature by the end of this year but it’s still unclear if it will manage that.

On a side note, the obtained training document states that you need at least iPhone 5s for the device to work and iOS 12.1.1 installed.

Yet again, if you are outside the US, don’t get your hopes up because it will take some time for Apple to enable the feature outside the country. After all, there’s are a lot of licenses that Apple needs to obtain and the USA’s FDA was just the first.
